Why do most of the people central Asia live in southeastern section?

Most of the people in Central Asia do not live in the southeastern section. The southeastern section of Central Asia is mostly desert and mountains, and is very sparsely populated. The majority of the population of Central Asia lives in the western and northern parts of the region, where the climate is more moderate and there is more water available.
