Was mobile ever a capital of Alabama?

Mobile was never the capital of Alabama. The first capital of Alabama was St. Stephens, which served as the capital from 1817 to 1819. The capital was then moved to Cahaba, which served as the capital from 1820 to 1826. The capital was then moved to Tuscaloosa, which served as the capital from 1826 to 1846. The capital was then moved to Montgomery, which has been the capital of Alabama since 1846.
