Where is the monument valley?

Monument Valley, formerly known as Moenkopi Plateau and Moenkopi Valley, is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 feet (300 m) above the valley floor. The valley derives its name from a prominent grouping of these formations, the Three Sisters.

Monument Valley is on the boundary between Arizona and Utah in the United States; a small part of the valley extends into southeastern Utah. The valley spans 12,000 square kilometers (4,700 sq mi), and is located around 350 kilometers (220 mi) northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona, and 250 kilometers (160 mi) southeast of Moab, Utah.

The area is home to a number of Native American tribes including the Navajo, who refer to the valley as TseʼBiiʼNdzisgaii, meaning "Valley of the Rocks". They have lived there for centuries and consider it to be sacred ground. The valley is part of the Navajo Nation and is managed by the Navajo Nation Parks and Recreation Department.
