Are There Cities Named Columbus in Europe?

There are no notable cities named Columbus in Europe. The name is overwhelmingly associated with the United States, where dozens of towns and cities bear the name—most prominently Columbus, Ohio, the state capital. The list sometimes circulated online (Columbus, Georgia; Columbus, Indiana; etc.) refers exclusively to U.S. locations. If you are looking for a European connection, the name honors the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus (Cristoforo Colombo), but it has not been adopted for municipalities in Europe.
