The North European Plain stretches from the Atlantic to the Urals, bordered by the North/Baltic Seas to the north and the Alps/Carpathians to the south. Its flat, fertile terrain, navigable rivers, and temperate climate have made it the continent's most densely populated and economically developed corridor. Consequently, many of Europe's greatest cities—London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Warsaw, and others—are situated on this plain.
