What language does the eu use?

The official languages of the European Union are Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish.

All official documents of the EU are drafted in all of these languages and any citizen of the EU has the right to communicate with the EU institutions in any of these languages. However, in practice, the most commonly used languages in the EU are English, French and German.
