Northern Europe's Two Core Regions: Fennoscandia & the British Isles

Northern Europe is conventionally divided into two sub-regions:

1. Fennoscandia (Nordic Core)

• Norway
• Sweden
• Finland
• Denmark (including Faroe Islands, Greenland)

2. The British Isles

• United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)
• Republic of Ireland

Sometimes the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and Iceland are grouped in broader "Northern Europe" definitions, but the two historic-cultural cores are Fennoscandia and the British Isles.
