How Far Is Sardinia from Italy?

Sardinia is an integral part of Italy, located in the Mediterranean Sea just west of the Italian Peninsula. The island lies approximately 200 kilometers (125 miles) west of the mainland coast at its closest point (near Civitavecchia). Regular ferries and flights connect Sardinia's major ports and airports (Cagliari, Olbia, Alghero) with mainland cities such as Rome, Naples, and Genoa.

Because Sardinia is an Italian region, there is no international border to cross; travel is domestic. The distance varies depending on the departure and arrival points, but the island is easily accessible for a weekend getaway or longer vacation.
