Where and when did the first settled in Slovakia?

The first settlers in what is today Slovakia arrived during the Neolithic period (around 6000 BC). These people were primarily hunters and gatherers who lived in small settlements.

The first major civilization to emerge in Slovakia was the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture, which flourished between 5500 and 2750 BC. This culture was characterized by its distinctive pottery, which was often decorated with spiral and geometric designs.

In the Bronze Age (around 2000 BC), the first metalworkers arrived in Slovakia. These people were primarily farmers and herders who lived in larger settlements.

The Iron Age (around 800 BC) saw the arrival of the Celts, who were the first people to build hillforts in Slovakia. The Celts were eventually conquered by the Romans in the 1st century AD.

After the fall of the Roman Empire, Slovakia was settled by a variety of Germanic and Slavic peoples. The Slavs eventually became the dominant group, and Slovakia became part of the Kingdom of Great Moravia in the 9th century AD.
