Luxembourg's elevation ranges from a high of 560 meters (1,837 feet) in the north of the country, close to the border with Belgium, to a low of 134 meters (440 feet) along the Moselle River in the southeast, where it borders Germany.

The majority of the country, especially the central and southern regions, has an average elevation of around 300 meters (984 feet) above sea level. The northern part of the country, known as the Oesling region, features higher elevations and rolling hills, while the southern parts consist of lower lying regions known as the Gutland or Luxembourg Plateau.
