How do warm and cold water currents affect coastal climates?

Warm water ocean currents:

* Raise the coastal air temperatures.

* Contribute to high precipitation on coastal areas. Especially the eastern side of the continents facing the ocean currents gets abundant precipitation.

* Makes coastal areas more humid.

Cold water ocean currents:

* Cool the coastal air temperature.

* Cause low precipitation on the coastal area. Western shores of the continents which are adjacent to cold ocean currents are usually deserts like the Atacama desert.

* Makes coastal areas dry
