What is exciting about Turkey becoming part of the EU?

There is currently no formal negotiation process underway for Turkey to become a member of the European Union, although Turkey is an official candidate country alongside several other nations. While there have been discussions and aspirations expressed throughout the years regarding Turkey's potential membership, the country's status remains unchanged for various reasons, including unresolved geopolitical issues and ongoing negotiations related to democratic rights and rule of law within Turkey.
