When was Iceland inhabited?
Iceland was initially settled by Celtic monks in the mid-seventh to eight centuries. After them, the Norse people arrived in Iceland around the year 874 and established permanent settlements. It was then gradually settled by Norse explorers and settlers, who brought with them their language, culture, and traditions.
