What does the V sign mean in Europe?
In most European countries, as in America and Australia, the V-sign or peace symbol is a simple gesture of peace. When the outside of the hands are showing (palms towards you), it is understood to mean peace or victory. However, the V sign can also be obscene when shown with the palm towards the target, particularly in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, where it is known as "two fingers" or "the forks", and is equivalent to the American middle finger.
