How Iceland got its name?

Iceland is called "Ísland" in Icelandic. The name was given to the island because of its massive ice caps. The Norse explorer Hrafna-Flóki Vilgerðarson, the first Norseman to deliberately sail to the island, gave the name when he returned to Norway.
