What is the Rio de la Plato?

The Rio de la Plata is a large estuary in South America. It is formed by the confluence of the Paraná and Uruguay rivers, and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The Rio de la Plata is about 190 miles (300 kilometers) long and 50 miles (80 kilometers) wide at its widest point. It is one of the largest estuaries in the world.
