Car Tours of Spain

Spain is a country rich in geographical and cultural diversity. Several tour companies offer assistance with planning a car tour throughout Spain, with everything from car rental, guides and accommodations. By driving through Spain, visitors can experience the quaint villages, pristine beaches and cosmopolitan cities in a more personal way.
  1. Andalucía Driving Tour

    • The Andalucía region of Spain is home to Cordoba, Seville, Grenada and several resort towns in between. The tour begins in Ronda, and once you take in views of the Serrania de Ronda Mountains, continues onward to Jerez de la Frontera, the sherry capital of the world.

Next, drive north to Seville where Gothic architecture and art still dominate the city. Seville is home to the Plaza de Espana as well as the Cathedral of Seville, built in the 15th century and formerly used as a mosque. Travel along the E5/A4 to Cordoba to visit the Great Mosque of Cordoba. Follow the Olive Oil Route (Ruta Del Aceite) to Grenada on the E902.

Finally, drive to Mirador de San Nicolas, home of the famous Alhambra Palace. End your journey in the beachside resort of Malaga, about a 90-minute drive from Grenada.

    Catalonia Driving Tour

    • Start in Barcelona and experience the Catalonia region of Spain via the AP7. The journey takes you through Girona and passes through many of Spain's national parks and along scenic beaches. On the way to Girona, stop off and visit Figueres, the birthplace of Salvador Dali.

Take the A7 and E15 to the Dali Museum and then carry on to the Roman city of Girona. The Roman ruins are a must, and visitors can also experience the beaches of Costa Brava. Finally, take the C16 and C60 to Cardona, a unique Spanish mountain village. If you continue along the C14, your tour will take you to the border of Andorra, in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains.

    Pyrenees to Atlantic

    • The Pyrenees Mountains are situated on the border of France and Spain. Take a car tour from the forested mountain peaks and river valleys of the Pyrenees through the Basque country in northeastern Spain and on to the Atlantic Ocean.

Begin in Pamplona, famous for the annual running of the bulls, and from there travel north along the AP15/A15 toward San Sebastian. Take in the Bay of Biscay while driving west toward Bilbao via the A8. From Bilbao, the most direct western route is inland through Vitoria-Gasteiz, Burgos and Leon.

If you prefer a seaside journey, take the E70/A8 toward Santander. Continue west through the small northern villages of Gijon and Oviedo. Both routes will lead you to A Coruna, on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
