Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland. His feast day is celebrated on 30th November. Saint Andrew is one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. According to tradition, he was martyred by crucifixion on an X-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. The Saltire, the Scottish flag, is said to be derived from the X-shaped cross on which he was martyred.
