How did Antrim get its name?

There are several theories about how County Antrim got its name, but the most widely accepted one is that it comes from the Irish word "Aontroim", meaning "Lone Ridge" or "Solitary Ridge". The name is thought to refer to the high ground that runs through the county, forming the Antrim Plateau.
