What is driving the serphents from Ireland mean?

Saint Patrick, patron of Ireland, is traditionally credited with driving snakes out of Ireland. However, there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of snakes in Ireland before or during the time of Saint Patrick. It is believed that the "snakes" referred to in the legend were actually metaphors for paganism or other pre-Christian beliefs and practices that Saint Patrick sought to eradicate from the island.
