When was there glaciers in Ireland?
During the Pleistocene Ice Age, which began about 2.5 million years ago, Ireland experienced periods of glaciation. The most recent glacial period, known as the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), occurred between about 25,000 and 15,000 years ago. During the LGM, Ireland was covered by an ice sheet up to 3,000 meters thick in the mountains. The ice sheet scoured the landscape, creating fjords, moraines, and drumlins. The glaciers retreated about 10,000 years ago, and Ireland's climate warmed, leading to the current conditions.
