Fun Things to Do in Canada

Canada offers a wide variety of attractions for a fun day out or a long vacation getaway. Local residents and visitors can go hiking in the Killarney Provincial Park, tour the Bay of Fundy or explore the L'Anse aux Meadows Norse archaeological site. Individuals and families alike can ride the thrill rides at an amusement park, take an unforgettable trip to a 140-acre mall or go on a winter skiing vacation.
  1. Canada's Wonderland

    • Located in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada's Wonderland is a 330-acre amusement park with more than 200 rides and other attractions. The park is open every year from May until the end of October, when the park closes with it's season-ending Halloween Haunt. The park is divided into several themed areas, such as the Medieval Fair area with thrill rides that include the Droper Tower, Bat and Shockwave. The International Street area is located near the entrance with the Wonder Mountain, while the International Festival area has carnival-type games and rides, such as the Vortex, Klockwerks and Thunder Run. The bravest of visitors can test their courage on the 230-foot tall Behemouth roller coaster that travels along its track at a speed of nearly 80 miles per hour.

    Mont Blanc Ski Resort

    • The Mont Blanc Ski Resort is located at the base of the Mont Blanc ski mountain with 41 ski trails and seven ski lifts. There is a snow park with two dedicated slopes for snowboarders and a lodge that serves light fare and beverages. The resort's ski school for children and adults has 125 certified instructors with both private and group lessons available. Throughout January and February of each year, the resort offers guided snowshoe expeditions in the evening to the top of one of the mountains. From the resort, visitors can also go cross country skiing, snowmobiling and dog sledding. The resort's hotel offers room, suite and apartment-style accommodations and the Mont Blanc's Le Chamonix Restaurant serves a variety of regional dishes throughout the day. Children at the resort can enjoy climbing, sliding and zip-lining through the Jungle Magique indoor play park.

    Stanley Park

    • British Columbia is home to the 1,000-acre Stanley Park. Family-friendly attractions at the park include a farmyard with 122 birds and animals, a miniature train, children's playground, open-air theater, outdoor swimming pool, the Variety Kids water park and the Vancouver Aquarium. For adult visitors, the park offers a golf course, yacht club, tennis courts and horse-drawn carriage tours. Animals at Stanley Park's Farmyard include sheep, goats, donkeys, alpacas, llamas and ponies. The Vancouver Aquarium is the largest aquarium in Canada with more than 70,000 animals and offers interaction experiences with dolphins, beluga whales, sea lions and sea. On-site dining venues include the Fish House, the Prospect Point Cafe and the Teahouse, and the Stanley Park Pavilion is available for banquets and receptions.

    West Edmonton Mall

    • The West Edmonton Mall in Alberta is 140 acres in size and is home to more than 800 stores, an amusement park, water park, indoor lake, ice rink, miniature golf course, hotel, petting zoo, nightclub, skate park and recreation center. The mall's Galaxyland amusement park has more than 26 rides, including thrill rides such as the Mindbender, Galaxy Orbiter and the Space Shot. There is also a four-story space-themed interactive play center for children. The World Waterpark has 17 waterslides, wave pool, children's water play area and an indoor bungee tower. Visitors can see sharks, sea turtles, reptiles and more at the underground aquarium, watch California sea lions perform at the Sea Lion's Rock stage or play bumper boats in the indoor lake. The mall also offers day camps throughout the summer, sea lion interactions and trainer-for-the-day programs.
