What does the name Galilee mean?

Galilee comes from the Hebrew name גָּלִיל (Galīl), which originally meant “district” or “region” and may have been derived from the word "גלל" (galal), which means "to roll". The term referred to a specific area in the northern part of ancient Israel. The Greek translation in the New Testament is Γαλιλαία (Galilaia).
