How long has the Irish flag been around?

There is no Irish flag. The flag of the Republic of Ireland is a vertical tricolour of green, white, and orange. The green represents the Irish Catholics, the white represents peace, and the orange represents the Irish Protestants. The flag was first used in 1848 by the Young Ireland movement, and was officially adopted by the Republic of Ireland in 1922.
