Important Correction: New Mexico and California do not share a border. The state of Arizona lies entirely between them.

The original source incorrectly described a 175-mile boundary. The actual borders are:

• New Mexico borders: Arizona (west), Colorado (north), Oklahoma (northeast), Texas (east/south), Mexico (south).
• California borders: Oregon (north), Nevada (east), Arizona (southeast), Pacific Ocean (west), Mexico (south).

Any description of a direct New Mexico–California boundary is geographically inaccurate.
