Who governs dominican republic?

The Dominican Republic is a multi-party democracy led by an elected president, in office for four years (two consecutive terms only), and a 32-member Senate and 183-member Chamber of Deputies elected for four-year terms, all by proportional representation using closed party lists.

The president also appoints and presides over the Council of State and, with the Senate's advice (subject to veto overridden by a two-thirds vote of both houses of the Dominican Congress), selects other top officials, including Supreme Court and lower-court judges. Voting at elections, which is compulsory.
