Mangroves can be found on the coast of Honduras, and they consist of a vast network of interconnected waterways covered in mangrove trees. It is in the department of Gracias a Dios, in the Mosquitia region, with mangrove extensions from the lagoon systems of Brus Laguna and Caratasca Lagoon, and another part in the swamp lagoon system of Ibans and Wava-Wauhta.
- Tropical wet forest
Its greatest extension is from the Sierra de Omoa to the department of Gracias a Dios, covering the departments of Cortés, Atlántida, Colón and Gracias a Dios.
- Rainforest
It occupies a small part of the Caribbean region. It is a rainforest with high humidity and temperature.
- Tropical dry forest
Located in the Valle del Aguán, on the north coast. It is a woodland with deciduous trees and low shrubs, located on the shores of rivers.
- Temperate forest
It is found on the highest peaks of Honduras, such as Celaque, Congolón, and Las Minas, and in some areas of Celaque National Park, Santa Bárbara, Intibucá, Lempira, and La Paz.
- Cloud forest
It is found on the peaks of the Sierra de Celaque, La Tigra and El Merendón, in altitudes higher than 1000 meters above sea level.
- Pine-oak forest
It occupies a large part of the territory, from Sierra de Celaque to Ocotepeque, covering the departments of Santa Bárbara, Lempira, Intibucá, Comayagua, La Paz, Francisco Morazán and Ocotepeque.
