Remembering Costas Montis (1968–2021): Greek TV Pioneer

Costas Montis, one of Greece's most recognizable television personalities, passed away on 18 January 2021 at age 52 after a prolonged illness.

Career Highlights

• Presenter/Host: Fronted prime-time shows on Mega Channel, ANT1, and Star Channel—Proinos Kafes, Kalimera Ellada, entertainment specials.
• Producer & Executive: Founded Montis Productions; developed format adaptations (The Voice Greece, Got Talent Greece). Served as programming director.
• Media Entrepreneur: Launched digital platforms, podcast networks; advocated for Greek content quotas.

Legacy

Colleagues remember his warmth, professionalism, and mentorship of young journalists. The Greek National Council for Radio and Television (ESR) honored him posthumously for "elevating daytime television standards."

He is survived by his wife and two children. Memorial tributes aired across major networks in January 2021.
