What does US trade with Venezuela?

The United States and Venezuela have a long and complex history of trade relations.

Prior to the imposition of economic sanctions by the United States in 2019, Venezuela was the United States' third largest trading partner in South America, after Brazil and Colombia.

In 2018, the United States exported $5.7 billion worth of goods to Venezuela, and imported $1.1 billion worth of goods from Venezuela.

The top U.S. exports to Venezuela included: refined petroleum products, machinery, and vehicles.

The top U.S. imports from Venezuela included: crude oil, fuel oil, and petrochemicals.

Since the imposition of economic sanctions, trade between the United States and Venezuela has declined significantly.

In 2021, the United States exported $282 million worth of goods to Venezuela, and imported $18 million worth of goods from Venezuela.

The decline in trade between the two countries has had a negative impact on the economies of both countries.
