What are the laws regarding where children may sit in a car Mexico?

According to the Mexican General Law on Transportation and Roads (Ley General de Vías de Comunicación), children under 12 years old must use child restraint systems (CRS) when riding in a vehicle. The type of CRS required depends on the child's age, height, and weight.

Children under 4 years old must use a rear-facing CRS until they reach 4 feet 9 inches (1.45 m) in height and weigh at least 40 pounds (18 kg).

Children 4 years old and older must use a forward-facing CRS with a harness until they reach 8 years old, 5 feet (1.52 m) in height, and weigh at least 65 pounds (29 kg).

Children 8 years old and older may use a booster seat until they reach 4 feet 9 inches (1.45 m) in height and weigh at least 80 pounds (36 kg).

Children 12 years old and older may sit in any seat in the vehicle, but are still required to wear a seat belt.
