How did San Antonio get its name?
The city of San Antonio was founded by Spanish missionaries in 1718. The city was named after Saint Anthony of Padua, who is the patron saint of lost things. The Spanish missionaries chose this name because they believed that Saint Anthony would help them find their way back to the city if they ever became lost.
