How did the war between Mexico start?

There have been three conflicts known as the Mexican-American War: from 1835 to 1837, with the Texans eventually rebelling; from 1846 to 1848 with the United States and resulted in annexation by the US of about half of Mexico's northern territory; and one in 1914 with the U.S, known mainly as the "Tampico Affair."
