The mouth of the Kaveri River is located at Poompuhar, a town in the Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu, India. The river Kaveri originates in Talakaveri, a place in Kodagu district of Karnataka and flows through the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu before emptying into the Bay of Bengal at Poompuhar.
