Who was the original person to settle Texas?

There was no single original person to settle Texas. The area that is now Texas was inhabited by various indigenous peoples for thousands of years prior to European settlement. The first recorded European expedition to Texas was led by Spanish explorer Alonso Álvarez de Pineda in 1519.
