Is Miami connected to the Gulf of Mexico?

Miami is not directly connected to the Gulf of Mexico. Miami is located on the southeastern coast of Florida and borders the Atlantic Ocean. The Gulf of Mexico is located on the southern coast of the United States and is bordered by the states of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. The two bodies of water are separated by the Florida peninsula.
