Why did they chose the location mission San Carlos Borromeo?

Mission San Carlos Borromeo was chosen as the site for the California Constitutional Convention because it was seen as a neutral location, equidistant from the major Spanish settlements of Monterey and Los Angeles. It was also a convenient place for delegates from the various Mexican provinces to meet, as it was located on El Camino Real, the main road between the two settlements. Additionally, the mission had a large plaza that could accommodate the delegates and their equipment, and it was near a river that provided water for drinking, cooking, and bathing.
