Area of Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland

There is no "Green Island" on the mainland coast of Queensland. However, the famous Green Island is a coral cay located on the Great Barrier Reef, approximately 27 km (17 miles) offshore from Cairns in Far North Queensland.

This Green Island has a total land area of approximately 0.036 square kilometers (or 3.6 hectares / 8.9 acres).

Despite its small size, it is a popular day-trip destination featuring a rainforest boardwalk, coral reefs for snorkeling/diving, a resort, and a marine park visitor center.
