Brooklyn Has No Capital—It's a NYC Borough

Brooklyn has no capital. It is one of five boroughs of New York City (alongside Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island), not a country, state, or independent municipality.

Brooklyn is coextensive with Kings County; its administrative center is Brooklyn Borough Hall (Downtown Brooklyn), housing the Borough President's office. The Kings County Supreme Court and other government offices are also there.

NYC's overall government (Mayor, City Council) sits in Manhattan's City Hall. Brooklyn's 2.7M residents make it the most populous borough—equivalent to the 4th largest U.S. city if independent.
