The Average Summer Rainfall in Utah

Utah receives little rainfall in the summer. Farm areas receive an average of 10 to 15 inches annually and require irrigation. The Great Salt Lake Desert west of Salt Lake City receives less than 5 inches per year. Summer rainfall, May through August, varies throughout the state, but most areas receive less than an inch per month.
  1. Salt Lake City

    • Salt Lake City lies in the northwest between the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake. In the summer, it receives less than 5.5 inches of precipitation. May and June combined account for about 3.5 inches.

    Bryce Canyon National Park

    • Bryce Canyon National Park receives about 0.59 inches of rain in June.

      Bryce Canyon is in the southeast central part of Utah. In May, it averages 0.96 inches of rain. June gets 0.59 inches of rain, and July 1.34 inches. August receives 2.20 inches of precipitation.

    Moab

    • Arches National Park receives less than an inch of rain per month in the summer.

      Moab is located centrally along the border with Colorado and close to Arches National Park. It receives very little rain in the summer with 0.72 inches of precipitation in May, 0.43 inches in June and 0.78 inches in July. August has 0.86 inches of rain.
