Who is in charge of Samoa?
Samoa is an independent state, with a parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy. The head of state is the O le Ao o le Malo (Head of State), presently Tuimaleali'ifano Va'aletoa Sualauvi II, who is elected by the Fono (parliament) from four paramount chiefs for a five-year term. The head of government is the prime minister, presently Fiamē Naomi Mata'afa.
