When and by whom was Connecticut established?

The Connecticut Colony was established in 1635 by Puritans led by the Reverend Thomas Hooker. Hooker and his followers, known as the "Connecticut Puritans," left the Massachusetts Bay Colony due to disagreements over religious policies and practices. They settled along the Connecticut River and founded several towns, including Hartford, Wethersfield, and Windsor. These towns later became part of the Connecticut Colony.
