Amish Settlements in Rhode Island: Current Status

There are no known Amish settlements in Rhode Island. The state's small size, high population density, and expensive farmland make it incompatible with traditional Amish agricultural lifestyles and community structures.

Where Amish Communities Thrive

The largest Amish populations concentrate in:

  • Pennsylvania (Lancaster County – oldest and largest)
  • Ohio (Holmes County area)
  • Indiana (Elkhart/LaGrange counties)

Smaller communities exist in ~30 other states, primarily in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and parts of the South and Northeast—but not Rhode Island.
