Where to Find Igneous Rocks in New York State

Key regions with exposed igneous bedrock:

• Adirondack Mountains: Granite, syenite, gabbro (cooled magma).
• Hudson Highlands: Granite, gneiss, diorite (southeastern NY).
• Tug Hill Plateau: Syenite, granite, gabbro (northern NY).
• Mohawk Valley: Mostly sedimentary, but some granite and gabbro intrusions.
