Where is most fertile land?

Most fertile land is found in river deltas and floodplains where sediment from upstream is deposited creating rich soil ideal for agriculture. River deltas occur where rivers meet larger bodies of water such as oceans and lakes while floodplains are found alongside rivers that periodically overflow depositing nutrient-rich silt over their banks. Examples of regions renowned for highly fertile land include the Nile River Delta in Egypt the Ganges River Delta in India and the Mississippi River Delta in the United States. Other nutrient-rich areas may consist of volcanic soils.
