What did land look like?
During the Archean Eon, the landmasses were relatively small, and the continents were not yet united into a single supercontinent. The Earth was mostly covered by ocean basins and island arcs. The land areas were mostly barren and rocky, with little vegetation. The atmosphere was also very different, with much higher levels of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, and lower levels of oxygen. The land was also very hot, with temperatures reaching up to 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit).
