When was the discovery of America?

There seems to be a misunderstanding in the question. The term "discovery of America" is often used to refer to the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas in 1492. However, the Americas had already been inhabited for thousands of years by indigenous peoples. Columbus' arrival marked the beginning of extensive European exploration, colonization, and exploitation of the Americas.
