Backcountry Safaris operates out of Anchorage and has many types of tours in several Alaskan locations. Their one-day small-boat trips go out of Seward and offer whale watching, wildlife viewing and glacier tours. The company's boats are small and have about 15 passengers each, allowing them to get to very shallow areas.
The company often caters to photographers. You may also design your own trip on a custom tour. Trips generally last about nine hours and meals are included.
The tour promoters promise the sight of calving glaciers, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters, and often whales. With the small boat, tour operators have the flexibility to take different routes each day, and can adjust for the best wildlife views. Backcountry Safaris also has kayak trips, jeep trips, bus tours, airplane tours and hiking trips.

Seward, Alaska, and the Kenai Fjords National Park are great places to see wildlife, glaciers and whales, but you need to be on a small boat to be able to get close enough to nature. With Kenai Fjords tours you can do just that and get close enough to touch a glacier or get a great picture of a whale. A tour of National Park glaciers is six to eight hours, and there is a nine-hour tour of the Kenai Fjords. A tour of Resurrection Bay is a half-day and includes a buffet lunch. This outfitter says they can take you deeper into the Fjord than anyone else, which means you get to see a lot of wildlife. This company also has a dinner cruise to Fox Island.
Seward is 125 miles south of Anchorage. Boats include 45 and 95 foot-long vessels. Groups are 100 people or less. Custom tours, for groups of 20 are available, giving you more choices of what to see and do.

Alaska Tours offers a wide variety of vacations and will customize your trip to meet your needs. Day trips out of Ketchikan are on a catamaran and go to the Misty Fjords area, where you can see Native American pictographs on cliffs. Mountain goats, bears, eagles and numerous sea creatures are just some of the wildlife you will see in this area.
The tour involves flying one way and cruising the other way for a full day trip. Tour operators try to adjust their tours to the schedules of major cruise lines that visit Ketchikan. Other tours include canoe and jeep tours, bus tours, hiking and kayak tours. Alaskan Tours also has day-trips to glaciers and whale watching out of Seward.
