Alaska Self-Guided Tours

Booking a self-guided tour of Alaska allows you to experience the scenic beauty of the 49th state at your own speed, without the worry of meeting groups or securing accommodations along the way.

Transportation, lodgings and activities are reserved in advance through self-guided tour packages. Tours offer a combination of rental vehicles, motorcycles, motor coach, trains and cruise ships between Anchorage and Fairbanks during the summer season.
  1. Self-Guided by Car

    • Alaska.org offers a nine-day "Highlights of Alaska" semi-inclusive self-drive tour at $1,500 per person. Beginning in Anchorage, a tour representative will meet you at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport with necessary travel documents and be available for consultation.

After spending one night in Anchorage your rental vehicle will be available for pick up downtown. From there you are on the road for seven full days before returning to Anchorage for a final night's stay before flying out on day nine.

During the tour you will travel as far north as Fairbanks on a loop route with overnight stays in Talkeetna, Denali, Fairbanks, Glennallen, Kennicott, Valdez and Whittier.

Highlights of the tour include a jet boat safari, glacier tours, a ferry through Prince William Sound and a side trip by air to the historic ghost town of Kennicott.
