Alaska is the largest state in the U.S. and known as the "last frontier." The northern lights or aurora borealis is one of the most popular attractions in the state. The colorful display's maximum effect is between August and April when the night sky is at its darkest. Tour companies offer a range of travel options to view the natural attraction.
Alaska Tours offer a range of tour packages to view the northern lights including photo support, accommodation in wilderness lodges and resorts, hot springs spa passes, sightseeing, transfers and meals. A six-day rail package provides travel via Denali National Park to Fairbanks, followed by three days of northern lights viewing. The World Championship Ice Carving competition and the Open North America Sled Dog Championship can be observed if you travel during the winter months. The accommodations at Chena Hot Springs provide a 360-degree view of the northern lights.
