    • Belfast Zoo, a self-guided tour, is located in North Belfast on Cave Hill with views of Belfast Lough, a long wide and deep expanse of water. It is on 55 acres with more than 1,200 animals and receives more than 300,000 visitors a year. It houses many endangered species. Animals include Barbary lions, giraffes, red kangaroos and spider monkeys. The zoo has native trees of silver birch, yew, ash and hawthorn, and gardens. Belfast Zoo has summer hours from April 1 to September 30, and winter hours from October 1 to March 31.
